🦋 Personality

1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?
   
   
   Harry has always known that magic exists, but until recently he'd never seen any be performed aside from the barrier locking up the Isle. For his entire life, he's been living under the effects of the barrier spell created by Fairy Godmother around twenty years ago. The barrier locks all the villains and their offspring on the Isle of the Lost and also nullifies all magical abilities*. When he's finally able to get off the Isle, Harry encounters many spells, several on a large scale. Uma shows up as a cecaelia, an octopus-human hybrid. Audrey has put most of Auradon to sleep or turned them to stone. Ben has been turned into a beast-version of himself, and he witnesses the battle between Audrey and Mal where magic is literally flying and Mal is a dragon. Harry isn't very impressed by the magic he sees and he doesn't seem to have any talent at doing it himself. It's more a commonplace and accepted fact of life for him.
   
   *(There's one glaring discrepancy with the barrier nullifying all magic. Mal casts a spell in Descendants 2 on the dog Dude and when they cross to the Isle, Dude sneaks along. Since all magic should be nullified, the spell causing Dude to speak should end, but it doesn't. In Descendants 3, Mal is under an old age spell before they travel to the Isle, but after passing the barrier, the spell is nullified. Go figure.)
   
   
   
2. If your character could ask for one wish, and it's going to be magically granted without any consequence, what will it be and why?



There are two possibilities and both would be dependent on Uma.

If Uma wasn't content with her new life, he'd make a wish for her. Harry has devoted his life to making all of Uma's dreams and goals come true, not matter what they happen to be or whether he agrees with them. At the end of the third movie, Uma has freedom, acceptance and respect, most of what she'd been trying to get for so many years. If that still wasn't enough for her, Harry would make a wish so she could have whatever it was she felt she was missing. It wouldn't matter if there was a cost to himself, Harry would make that wish without even hesitating.

If Uma was happy with her new life of freedom and Harry felt able to make a personal wish, it would probably be for a true love. If Uma left the Isle, he'd inherit The Lost Revenge by default, so he wouldn't need to wish for his own ship, and any of the crew that stayed would probably follow him as captain, so no need to wish for a crew. All of his closest friends have their own lives to go live, and Harry was essentially being left alone. The one thing he'd never been able to find was someone to be in love with who wanted him the same way. At the end of the third movie, Harry was actively trying to find someone he could try a relationship with and he was turned down by everyone he asked or mentioned. When his friends walked away, he was wistfully looking out at the dancing couples. Wishing for a true love would probably be the only thing he'd think of, since everything else he wanted was already in his hands.



3. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.



Uma. Uma and her whims are Harry's entire world. Harry would follow Uma to the ends of the earth and beyond without hesitation. Growing up on the Isle, everyone knew everyone else, but they weren't always friends. Until the contest for Captain Hook's old ship The Lost Revenge, Uma and Harry weren't friends. They were rivals competing for the ship and made a bet that if one of them won the ship, the other would support them as captain and be their first mate. In the end, they had to team up to win the ship, and since it was technically Uma that won, Harry pledged himself as her first mate and proceeded to get the ship back in shape and seaworthy. Harry coordinated the refit of the ship, found and trained a crew, and taught Uma enough about sailing that she could realistically be called the captain. Once his loyalty was given, Uma and fulfilling her desires became his purpose in life.



4. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?



Harry is loyal. Once he gives his trust to someone, Harry will do or endure anything for a friend. He gives up any dreams he might have had for his own life so that he can help make Uma's dreams come true. And even though they're not strictly friends, he backs up Jay and Carlos when Ben is a temporary threat. VKs stick together no matter what, especially against an outsider. At the end of the third movie, even though Mal had betrayed everyone on the Isle and condemned them to imprisonment forever, he still stood with her and Uma as they fought against Audry, cheering Mal on. Once a VK, always a VK.

People rely on Harry's loyalty and the fact that he'll do whatever he's told by Uma, no matter how erratic he happens to be at the moment. In the second movie when Uma is holding Ben as a hostage, only his loyalty to Uma allows her to rein in his threats and manhandling.
